Hi guys,
Just done some initial research. There is alot of info on inflatable structures but most are one single structures. Even the cell structures are inflated as a whole structure. So considering this I think it is extremely hard to find a information on controlling individual cells.
The options above are some ideas of possible cell structures. I feel that pattern 2 has the most potential so far. Due to the fact that a valve(or input air point) can control up to 6 cells. And also unlike the square cells the triangular form makes it easier to deform the overall shape along the diagonal to give possibly more interesting outcomes.
The valve is another issue we will have to look at. After doing some quick looking i have electronic valve controls are hard to find and how we are going to control them using maxmsp might be difficult. Some i have found are very large and heavy valves. I think we could possible look at making our own valve system using rotating motors to control air??

Please tell me what you guys think?.

Hi Phil,
Yeah - I think its tricky to have every individual one being made operational ...but we only have to get one working + they will all follow.... hopefully
It looks good the research you have done on the modules, but does the structure have to be so regimented? could it not be more free form / generative?
what is we were to look at ready made air pillows? with their own existing valves?
but we probably wouldn't get to have the right kind of materiality...?
