Hello everyone!

So at this point we are all aware of the three structural systems that are being tested. Just to be a bit clear about these i will attempt to explain them to my understanding.

1. Cellular based (pattern based)

Our newest older member to the structural system is the cellular - modular system that is more specific shape (rather than just a simple bubble) the air pocket can be designed to vary across the structure, as per Sarah's and Jo's images follows:

Simple octahedron:

Converted into pattern:

Note that all sections are straight this is how Max does is for planar things, if you wanted to build this out of paper it would work really well, but if you want it to be inflatable in different degrees this is not the way, the fabric needs to be more tensile and adaptable (more like spandex) but so far we havent found a material that is both airtight and flexible and tensile and cost effective, maybe we are asking too much ;) .

2. Individual Tree Arcs

Making arcs in the shape of trees with the branches spreading at the top:
can work well but can be problematic, ill try to explain it a bit more tomorrow but have a look at the following images...

(modular same tree just more times) the images show two scenarios, 1 type of tree wit a long base, and 1 type where the spread of branches happens earlier...

3. Complete pattern (see my tagliatelle post from friday)

this system depends on being built with all the beams and all the fabric in place.
